How to add date validations in google forms?

"the answer for the 2nd date field has to be for a date after"- Support forum

This is a common question from Google Forms users who need a date to follow a rule. For example, if leave requests must come in 7 days in advance, you have to catch the late ones. Google Forms has response validations for short answers, but not for date questions, so late requests get through. With Formfacade, a date question has its own validation rules, so you can allow only the dates that are 7 days in advance and your users cannot submit a late request. Even better, the same list lets you allow only past or future dates, allow specific days of the week or exclude specific dates.

Let's start. Create your form and follow the steps below.

How to allow users to submit only if it is 7 days in advance?

Let's take the example of leave request form. Employees must submit their leave requests 7 days in advance. Since Google Forms does not have the option to add response validations for date questions, we cannot implement this in native Google Forms. Please follow the instructions below to implement this using Formfacade.
  • On the page that opens, name your form, click Build form and click Proceed. It can take about a minute.
  • You will land on the form's "Preview" tab.
  • Click on "Edit" tab
The tabs Edit, Preview, Share and Responses, with Edit marked
  • Click on the + icon (Add field) in the toolbar on the right. A new question will be added.
  • Enter "Leave From" as the question and select Date in the question type list
The toolbar on the right of the Edit tab, with the + icon marked
  • Click on the ⚙️ icon at the bottom right of the question
  • Field settings screen will be displayed. Select the "Answer" tab.
  • Click Configure under Validation
  • Select "Allow only future dates with lead time"
  • Enter 7 in the number of days
  • Click Save
The Validation section with Allow only future dates with lead time selected and 7 entered, with the rule and the Save button marked
On your form, the date picker starts 7 days from today. If a user types an earlier date, the form shows "Invalid date selection. Please choose a date that is at least 7 days from today." under the box and the request cannot be submitted.

Other date validations

The same list has Allow only past dates, Allow only future dates, Allow between two dates, Allow specific days of the week and Exclude specific dates.

Summary

If a date in your form has to follow a rule, Google Forms cannot validate it. With Formfacade, you can add a validation to the date question and the form will not accept a date that does not meet the rule. Create your form and complete the steps above.
